Neuschwanstein Castle

Neuschwanstein sits on the Austrian/German border and we took a 2 hour train ride to the little town where it is located. It is the same Castle Disney copied for its castle in Sleeping Beauty. Once we got to the village, we rode a bus to the outskirts and hiked 3 miles in the woods to the castle-which was beautiful!! We could even see the Austrian trees and mountains-which looked exactly the same, but its Austria ok, so it seemed cooler:)

Once we got to the top Tyler went out onto a “sketchy” bridge with a ton of other tourists (I am scared of heights and being on the front page of the paper for ‘death due to broken bridge’) so I let him take the beautiful photos you will see below of the Castle. Neuschwanstein was built in the late 1800’s and took 20+ years of construction and still is not completed to this day. King Ludwig lived in the castle close to 6 months and then he died in 1886. The castle was immediately opened for tourists with 2 of the floors still not completed. Anyways enough history- here are the photos from our day tour.
